I write romances with curvy women who have great sex.

Why?

Because I’m a curvy woman who has great sex and I’m tired of only reading about skinny or slim heroines getting the goods.

Through my writing process I write out my rough draft the way the story plays out in my head, leaving out any actual sex scene details (my rough drafts usually have this: {Insert Hot and Steamy Sex Here}).

Then during revision process #2 I go back and actually spend a day or two or however long it takes to get it right.

I make my scenes as detailed and raunchy as I can.

If my beta readers come back saying,  “My eyes! What did you just make me read?!” then I scale it back…. a bit.

Getting sex scenes in a Romance or Erotica book right is the key to winning your readers over.

If your reader starts to read a sex scene and they are so uninterested in it that they skim right over it then why the heck did you bother putting it in the book??

Your sex scene needs to be so hot that they read every last embarrassing word and it leaves them either (a) horny and searching for their significant other or (b) dying to act it out to see if it’s as good as you made it seem. Either way, hook your reader with your sex scenes and you’ve got a repeat customer.

Below I’ve listed some books, blog posts, and websites that I use to help me get all the fun little details right 😉

A great post and great tips 😀 Sex in books is something that needs to be just a strong, if not stronger, than other points!

Sex, characters but even over characters…their relationship evolution is what needs to be spot on. On the sex scenes, I think if it doesn’t leave you squirming…then I didn’t do it right.
