18 Daily Twitter Groups for Writers

I previously talked about the annoying phenomenon of #hashtags in  “What is a #hashtag and How Can it Help Your Writing Career?” and the wonderful invention of twitter chats in “What the heck is a Twitter Chat?”. Today I want to talk more about Twitter groups.

Please don’t mistake Twitter Group (A group of people who manage/moderate one twitter account) with Twitter groups. I know, easier said then done. The twitter groups I am talking about today are a group of twitter followers who talk to each other with the use of #hashtags. It’s sort of similar to tweet chats  except you can post whenever you want on whatever day you want and those that follow the #hashtag will see your post.

Here are some Twitter groups for writers.

  • #AmWriting
  • #Author
  • #Creativity
  • #Editing
  • #FictionFriday
  • #FridayFlash
  • #Novelists
  • #StoryStarters
  • #Wordcount
  • #WordaThon
  • #Writergoal
  • #Writers_life
  • #Writingparty
  • #writing
  • #writetip
  • #wip
  • #writermoms

Sometimes, ok all the time, it can be hard to follow along and find the hashtag conversation you are looking for. If you have a lot of twitter followers, your feed can be overloaded with hundreds of new tweets within minutes.

A website to help you connect with the groups you want to connect with is:

Twibes – Twibes organizes Twitter conversations by topic which makes it easier for you to find them, stay up to date, and participate. You can search a keyword or browse their categories and find Twitter people who are interested in the same things that you are. Twibes makes it easy to participate in Twitter conversations you care about, which is made even easier with their threading feature. This allows you to follow all replies to a tweet from start to finish, without having a bunch of other tweets in the way.

Do you follow certain groups?

Have you used Twibes?

  1. Twitter Followers Avatar

May I just say what a relief to find someone that genuinely knows what they’re
discussing on the net. You definitely understand how to bring an
issue to light and make it important. A lot more people really need to check this out and understand this side of your story.
I can’t believe you are not more popular because you surely have
    the gift.
